Daily life

The codice fiscale opens everything: work, rent, bank, healthcare. Then residence at the municipality, SPID or CIE, a SIM with ID, a bank account, utilities on the free market and waste sorting by municipal rules. The restaurant 'coperto' is not a tip.

Italy

Certificates, residence and identity cards go through the municipal registry office, with booking on the portal. Separate waste collection has calendars by user, recycling centres, a mobile collection point and smart drop-off stations; in October 2026 bulky and garden waste collection was suspended. Weather and fire-danger bulletins come from the regional Civil Protection.

Sassari

Appointments with the municipality, including for the electronic identity card, are booked online. Separate waste collection has a dedicated website (municipality and Formula Ambiente) with a calendar by zone, a seasonal recycling centre and an information Ecopoint.

Oristano

The municipality's portal groups services by category (registry and civil status, environment, taxes, health and welfare) and has an appointment-booking system; payments go through PagoPA. The city also has a Europe Direct desk. The pages consulted do not name the waste operator.

Nuoro

Registry and ID card at the Comune and the Municipalità di Pirri, by appointment. Door-to-door collection across the city with a calendar by zone, recycling centres and municipal TARI tax. Mains water from Abbanoa, drinkable but hard. The MEM media library and municipal libraries; San Benedetto, Santa Chiara and Sant'Elia markets.

Cagliari

Since 3 June 2026 the electronic ID card is issued by appointment only. Separate waste collection is organised in six zones with yearly calendars; the municipality lends home composters. The weekly market is on Thursdays, with a new market planned in the Fontanelle Sud district.

Trapani

Change of residence is done online on ANPR with SPID or CIE, or by appointment at the registry office on via San Sebastiano or at the district offices. The Ortigia ZTL permit is requested online from the municipal police. Nine weighing waste stations complement door-to-door collection.

Syracuse

The municipality offers free home pickup of bulky waste, supply and repair of separate-collection bins, and an Environment Office at via M. Spadola 56. Markets include Piazza dei Cappuccini, the fruit-and-vegetable wholesale market and the Antico Mercato.

Ragusa

Registry and ID card at the offices of the eight districts and the central office, by appointment. Waste with RAP: street bins in most of the city, door-to-door in some districts, municipal collection centres. Drinkable AMAP water, with rotation in crisis periods: watch the notices. Municipal and regional libraries, historic markets.

Palermo

Waste collection is run by MessinaServizi Bene Comune, an in-house company of the Comune: door-to-door with calendars for the north, centre and south zones, municipal drop-off centres open 24 hours with a personal card and a portal to book bulky-item pick-up. The Tommaso Cannizzaro municipal library is on viale Boccetta.

Messina

The electronic identity card is requested by appointment at the Centro Direzionale San Leone or at the Municipi desks and is delivered home by post. The six municipal drop-off centres take sorted waste every day except Sunday; organic waste must be put out on the scheduled days and times. Permits for the ZTL and pedestrian areas are requested online from AMTS.

Catania

Waste collection follows precise rules: containers out by midnight starting from 06:00 the day before, semi-transparent bags and no black bags, otherwise a "red sticker". The municipality has online services and a toll-free number to report fly-tipping.

Caltanissetta

Registry and civil status offices have a services page with online booking of appointments; reports and PagoPA payments go through the municipal portal. Waste collection relies on mobile recycling points, with drop-off rules updated in summer 2026. The city has the "La Rocca" municipal library.

Agrigento

The municipality's waste page gathers collection calendars, the service charter, the TARI regulation and the conditions for a reduction through home composting; the portal offers a personal area, the official notice board and social channels. The Municipal Police has a dedicated phone number.

Vibo Valentia

Change of residence is submitted online through ANPR, as are registry certificates and self-declarations; counter appointments are booked online. School meals and PagoPA bills are handled on the Comune's services portal, where service problems can also be reported. The Pietro De Nava municipal library already existed in 1818.

Reggio Calabria

Registry and ID card at the Comune, with a portal to request certificates online. Door-to-door separated collection with a calendar by zone and municipal TARI tax. Mains water from Sorical, drinkable, with summer interruptions in the upper districts. De Nobili municipal library at Villa Trieste; local markets and supermarkets in Germaneto and at the Lido.

Catanzaro

The Comune has an «Anagrafe, stato civile, elettorale» section and an appointment booking system; the electronic identity card is booked through the Solariq app. Waste is handled by Akrea (toll-free 800 55 56 50); there is a municipal market in via Giacomo Manna and one on the first Thursday of the month.

Crotone

The Comune di Cosenza (piazza dei Bruzi 1, switchboard 0984 8131) lets you book appointments and the ID card, pay via PagoPA and report faults online. Demographic services, the registry and the public relations office are in the branch office at piazza Giacomo Mancini 33.

Registry and ID card at the Comune, by appointment. Waste with ACTA: separated collection with calendars by area (urban, historic centre, industrial, outer area) and a collection centre; door-to-door being extended. Drinkable water from Acquedotto Lucano. National and Provincial libraries, local markets.

Potenza

Registry services run through ANPR and the Matera Digitale portal (SPID login), where payments are also handled; separate waste collection has a dedicated site, Matera Pulita. The municipality has extended to 10 January 2027 the seasonal assignment of non-food market pitches in the Rioni Sassi.

Matera

The Comune has an online counter to book appointments with its offices. Waste is run by AMIU S.p.A., with a collection centre on via Finanzieri open every morning and a toll-free number. The municipal library is named after Giovanni Bovio.

Trani

Change of residence is declared on the Comune's online desk; since 1 September 2026 the electronic identity card at the local registry branches is issued only by online appointment. Waste and bulky-item collection are run by Kyma Ambiente. The Pietro Acclavio civic library is on via Salinella.

Taranto

The Comune di Lecce portal gathers ANPR certificates, digital services and a waste-transparency portal with calendars, tariffs and the TARI regulation. Half-yearly revision of the electoral rolls runs from 11 to 20 October 2026.

Lecce

The Comune di Foggia portal organises services by category, with an online portal for local taxes. Waste is collected by AMIU Puglia, with a service information page linked from the municipal website. ATAF runs urban buses and car parks.

Foggia

The Comune di Brindisi's portal lets you book appointments with offices and the electronic ID card on the Ministry of the Interior's portal, pay via PagoPA, file requests online and report problems; the map of local data is BrindisiWebGis.

Brindisi

The electronic identity card is issued only at the via Ofanto counter. The Comune has an online booking counter, online applications, on-duty pharmacies and a waste transparency portal.

Barletta

Registry and ID card services at the offices of the five Municipi, by online appointment. Waste with AMIU Puglia: street bins in the centre and door-to-door collection in several districts, TARI tax via the Comune. Drinkable water from the Acquedotto Pugliese. Colibrì neighbourhood libraries; local markets in every area.

Bari

The Comune has an online counter, online appointment booking and a free certified e-mail for residents. Waste is run by Gial Ambiente, with a toll-free number and free bulky-waste collection. The portal lists two markets and two libraries.

Andria

Appointments with the registry office are booked on the Comune's portal and certificates are produced online through the Servizi Demografici Online. Salerno Pulita collects waste door to door with calendars by zone and type of user, including one in English for holiday accommodation. Salerno Mobilità manages parking and resident permits.

Salerno

Registry and certificates are handled in your municipalità of residence or online with SPID/CIE on the Comune's portal. ASIA Napoli manages waste with door-to-door collection in many districts and street bins elsewhere. Water is public (ABC) and drinkable. Shopping happens in markets and neighbourhood shops; municipal libraries and the National Library offer study rooms.

Naples

Registry matters are handled by Municipalità 5 Arenella-Vomero, with the registry office at via Raffaele Morghen 84; changes of residence are made only online or by certified email (PEC) and identity cards only by appointment. ASIA Napoli collects waste door to door and publishes the calendars for the Vomero zones.

Vomero

Registry matters are handled by Municipalità 1, with offices in largo Torretta and via Santa Caterina a Chiaia; changes of residence are made online only. ASIA has separate door-to-door calendars for households, shops and beach establishments in Posillipo. In summer access to some public beaches is free but by booking.

Posillipo

The Mostra d'Oltremare park is open every day, with paid entry, a pool in summer and tennis courts. Federico II's libraries are at piazzale Tecchio (Engineering) and in the Monte Sant'Angelo complex (Sciences, Economics).

Fuorigrotta

Public green space consists of small neighbourhood parks: Parco Viviani, Parco dei Ventaglieri and Parco dei Quartieri Spagnoli. Federico II's historic seats and libraries lie between corso Umberto I, piazza Bellini and via Monteoliveto.

Historic centre

The Villa Comunale is the quarter's historic park. The ASL health district serving Municipalità 1 and Capri has its administrative seat in the outpatient clinic at via Schipa 9. Via Rodinò houses Federico II's Political Science library.

Chiaia

The Comune's portal gathers its services for residents: electronic identity card and appointments for civil status and authentications, permits for the ZTL and for residents' parking, reporting problems to the municipal police, assistance requests and appointments with the offices.

Giugliano in Campania

The Comune di Caserta is based in piazza Vanvitelli; the number given on its service pages is 0823273289. The portal offers online appointment booking, assistance requests and fault reports.

Caserta

The municipality sits in Palazzo Mosti (via Annunziata 138). Registering as a resident from another municipality or abroad is done at the counter; a change of address within the city is declared online; appointments are booked on the website. The S. Colomba market follows municipal notices.

Benevento

The Comune di Avellino offers registry services online through ANPR and, since 12 February 2025, online booking of the electronic identity card (the e-mail with the ticket is required). The municipal portal also has a new heating-systems register.

Avellino

The Comune (piazza Marconi 3) has an «Anagrafe e stato civile» service category, an online appointment booking system, a link to ANPR and a form to report problems; for waste it points to a TARI transparency portal.
