Comune and documents
Residence, certificates and the electronic ID card are requested at the Comune's registry desks, at the central office, by booking an appointment; many services are available online with a digital identity. The city is small and public offices (Comune, Region, tax agency, INPS, police headquarters) are all reachable on foot or by bus from the centre.
Waste
Waste collection is entrusted to ACTA, the Comune's company: separated collection follows distinct calendars for the urban area, the historic centre, the industrial area and the outer area, where door-to-door collection has been launched; the municipal collection centre takes bulky items, electronic waste and household hazardous waste. ACTA also handles street sweeping, the winter snow service and paid parking management. The TARI waste tax is paid to the Comune.
Water, libraries, shopping
Tap water, supplied by Acquedotto Lucano, is drinkable and of good quality; contracts are managed online or at the Potenza desk. For study and reading there are the National Library of Potenza and the Provincial Library, plus the university library in Macchia Romana. Shopping is done at the supermarkets along Via del Gallitello and in the districts, and at the weekly local markets for fruit, vegetables and produce from nearby towns.
