Overview
What kind of municipality it is
Giugliano in Campania is, according to the ISTAT census, the most populous municipality in Campania that is not a provincial capital. The municipal territory is bounded to the west by the Tyrrhenian Sea and includes Lake Patria and the archaeological area of Liternum, a Roman maritime colony founded in 194 BC, which the municipal statute lists among the assets to protect and promote. The town is served by the EAV metro line that runs from Piscinola, in Naples, to Aversa via Mugnano and Giugliano.
Two things to know
Anyone considering a move should know two things documented by official sources. Part of the territory lies in the Campi Flegrei red zone, the area where, in case of alarm, preventive evacuation is the only safety measure. The Area vasta di Giugliano, a countryside zone on the outskirts of the town containing seven landfills, was designated a site of national interest (SIN) for remediation by Law 120 of 2020.
