Getting around from Trastevere
No metro in the rione. Tram 8 along viale di Trastevere runs to piazza Venezia; tram 3 links Trastevere station with Piramide, the Colosseum and San Lorenzo. Roma Trastevere station (FL1, FL3, FL5) has a direct train to Fiumicino airport. The centre is 15–20 minutes on foot.

Trams and buses
Trastevere has no metro stations. The transport axis is viale di Trastevere with tram 8 (Casaletto – piazza Venezia). Tram 3 leaves from the Trastevere station terminus and calls at Porta Portese, Piramide, Circo Massimo, Colosseo, San Giovanni and San Lorenzo.
Useful buses run along the lungotevere embankments and via della Lungara towards the Vatican and piazza Venezia, and line H between Termini station and Dei Colli Portuensi along viale di Trastevere. The inner lanes of the rione have no public transport: everything is done on foot.
Trains and airports
Roma Trastevere station, in piazza Flavio Biondo at the southern end of the viale, is served by the regional lines FL1 (Orte – Fiumicino Aeroporto), FL3 (Viterbo) and FL5 (Civitavecchia): from here the regional train to Fiumicino airport is direct, without going through Termini. For Ciampino you reach Termini by tram 8 or bus H and then the bus links, or take metro A to Anagnina.
Termini is about 3.5 km away: tram 8 plus metro, or bus H direct.
On foot, by bike, at night
From the heart of the rione you can walk to Campo de' Fiori in ten minutes over ponte Sisto, to piazza Venezia in twenty, to the Vatican in twenty-five along the Lungara. Shared bikes and e-scooters (operators licensed by Roma Capitale, 6 km/h limit in pedestrian areas) are widely used, but cobblestones and the Gianicolo slopes do not help.
At night, when the metro is closed, ATAC's night network (n lines) runs along viale di Trastevere and the embankments; the up-to-date map is on the ATAC website.
