Daily life in the Oltrarno
The municipal library is the Pietro Thouar on piazza Tasso, closed since July 2026 because of an air-conditioning fault. Quartiere 1 runs activities in piazza Santo Spirito, at the Nidiaci youth centre and on via del Leone.

Library
The Biblioteca Pietro Thouar, at piazza Torquato Tasso 3, is part of Florence's municipal library network and has a section for children and young adults. Since Friday 17 July 2026 it has been closed because of a malfunction in the air-conditioning system and will stay closed until the works are finished: the current status is on the Comune page.
Young people and neighbourhood life
Quartiere 1's activities in the Oltrarno include the Nidiaci youth centre, which opens enrolment for the new season in autumn and hosts participatory meetings, such as the one on a future toy library, the shows and festivities at the Living venue in piazza Santo Spirito 25, and street days dedicated to via del Leone.
