Traffic limits
Ordinance prot. no. 0349809/2026 of the Comune di Rimini, implementing the regional PAIR 2030 plan, applies from 1 October 2026 to 31 March 2027 in the urban area on the sea side of the SS16 state road (the SS16 itself and some boundary roads and access routes to park-and-ride car parks and health facilities are excluded). Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 6.30 pm, petrol cars (including methane or LPG bi-fuel) up to Euro 2, diesel cars up to Euro 4 and mopeds and motorcycles up to Euro 2 may not circulate. Every Sunday, except 4 October and 1 November 2026, the ban extends to Euro 5 diesels. Exemptions include electric and hybrid vehicles, cars carrying at least three people and Move-In subscribers. If a Rimini monitoring station exceeds the daily PM10 limit 25 times in 2026, the hours extend to 7.30 pm.
Emergencies, heating and burning
The ARPAE bulletin on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays can trigger emergency measures: bans extended to Euro 5 diesels from 8 am to 7 pm, a stop to slurry spreading in the province and to wood heaters below 5 stars where another system exists. For the whole period, across the municipality, wood stoves must be at least 4 stars where alternative heating exists, open fireplaces are banned, as are bonfires, fireworks and burning of plant residues, with some exceptions. Heating may be switched on from 1 November 2026, with a cap on indoor temperature; all year round certified pellets, closed shop doors and a ban on idling engines apply.
