The local economy
The fifth Economic Report on Upper Lazio, published by the Rieti-Viterbo Chamber of Commerce with 2025 data, counts 14,249 registered businesses in the province of Rieti, of which 12,454 are active. The largest sector by number of businesses is agriculture (24.0% of registered firms), followed by construction and trade. The report points to the «pump valley», an area between Rieti and Cittaducale where pump manufacturers are concentrated.
Exports and employment
In 2025 the province's exports grew by 48.5% compared with 2024; pharmaceutical, medicinal-chemical and botanical products account for about 80% of provincial exports. According to the same report the provincial employment rate fell from 62.7% in 2024 to 60.8% in 2025, while the unemployment rate went from 7.2% to 7.3%. These figures cover the whole province, not the municipality alone.

The Rieti job centre (Centro per l'impiego), run by the Lazio Region, is at via M. Rinaldi 1. According to the regional guide to job centres (updated October 2024) it offers reception, registration and certificates, training-to-work support, the relocation contract, EURES, traineeships and pre-selection. The Rieti-Viterbo Chamber of Commerce has its registered office in Viterbo and an office in Rieti at via P. Borsellino 16.
