ZTL and pedestrian area
The ZTL in the historic centre can be entered every day from 8:00 to 19:00 only with a permit, with exceptions; the local police check permits by reading number plates. Inside it is the urban pedestrian area (APU), closed to motor vehicles seven days a week, 24 hours a day, except for exemptions, with cameras at the entry gates. Paid car parks in the centre can be reached without a fine as long as you do not cross the APU; boundaries and cameras are on the ZTL and APU map published by the municipality.
Permits and connections
Most permits, including daily ones, are requested or renewed online and paid by card or PagoPA; only the CUDE disability badge and the "Mi muovo elettrico" pass have to be displayed on the vehicle. Changes to traffic are published in the "Muoversi" section of the municipal website. From 1 October to 31 March the anti-smog restrictions for the most polluting vehicles also apply.
Piacenza lies on the Po, 67 km from Milan, and was the end point of the ancient Via Emilia, which links it to the other Emilian cities.
