The centre
For the old town Italia.it lists the Malaspina Castle on its bastioned hill, with the Malaspina Renaissance palace, the church of San Rocco at the foot of the rock and Piazza Aranci. The municipal site highlights the Teatro Guglielmi (piazza del Teatro 1), Villa della Rinchiostra (via dell'Acqua 175) and the Martana air-raid shelter.
Sea and mountains
Marina di Massa and its beach establishments are on the sea side. Behind the city lies the Apuan Alps Regional Park, with a visitor centre on via Simon Musico; Italia.it notes that some areas are left outside protection to allow marble quarrying.
