Transport: ZTL with electronic gates and two free electric shuttles to the centre
The historic centre has had a ZTL with electronic gates since 2017; the Comune, with Start S.p.A., runs two free electric shuttles ("Ascoli in centro" and "San Pietro Martire"). A TUA coach line links Ascoli and Teramo; the local transport office is at via Giusti 5.

Free shuttles to the centre
To make the historic centre more accessible and free it of cars, the Comune has set up with Start S.p.A. two free electric shuttles: "Ascoli in centro" (on the "Ascoli insieme al centro" page) and "San Pietro Martire", the second line. The first one's page describes a 20-seat vehicle running every 20 minutes and states that the service does not run on public holidays; timetables and map can be downloaded from the Comune's page.
ZTL and gates
Since April 2017 the limited-traffic zones and a pedestrian area have been monitored by electronic gates; the Polizia Locale's "Varchi" page explains the reorganisation of traffic. The Comune also lists taxis, tourist trains (Ascoli Explorer, Ascoli City Tour with an electric tourist minibus) and a local public transport office.
Transport office and connections
The Ufficio Trasporto Pubblico Locale is at via Giusti 5 and opens on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 to 12:00 and on Tuesday and Thursday from 15:00 to 17:00; among its procedures it lists the certificate for fare concessions on regional and local public transport. For Teramo, TUA publishes the timetables of a Teramo–Ascoli Piceno line (with runs in both directions).
