Overview

What kind of city

The Comune's pages use the phrase "city of the hundred towers" for Ascoli Piceno and describe the historic centre as "among the most harmonious in Italy". The administration's stated aims for the centre are to enhance it, support residents' living conditions and avoid depopulation; for this reason access to the limited-traffic zones and the pedestrian area is controlled by electronic gates, operating since April 2017.

Study and sport

Courses of the University of Camerino (architecture and design) and of the Marche Polytechnic University (health professions, agriculture) are taught in Ascoli Piceno. The Comune announces that Ascoli Piceno is European City of Sport 2025, a title obtained thanks to the positive assessment of the candidacy dossier.
