Shopping, students, hospital
The market in piazza Madama Cristina, moved there from piazza Bodoni in 1876, is the district's historic market.
EDISU Piemonte, the regional body for the right to study that runs Turin's university residences, has its head office at via Madama Cristina 83: it is the reference point for calls for grants and student beds.
On corso Bramante, one of the avenues bounding the district, the Città della Salute e della Scienza university hospital trust has its registered office (at number 88); its main hospital is the Molinette, which the trust describes as the third-largest hospital in Italy by size.
Library
The Natalia Ginzburg city library is at via Cesare Lombroso 16, in a building constructed in the courtyard of the former Homeopathic Hospital; it opened on 23 July 2013. It is part of the Lombroso 16 cultural hub together with local associations and Circoscrizione 8. It has spaces for children and teenagers by age group (zero–five, six–ten, eleven–fifteen), reading seats, free Wi-Fi, a meeting room and an exhibition space. Opening hours change during the year and are published on the library's page.
Green space
The reference green space is the Valentino park along the Po, a public garden since 1856, with the Borgo Medievale.
