Metro

Prati is served by line A with the stations Lepanto (via Lepanto/viale Giulio Cesare), Ottaviano – San Pietro – Musei Vaticani (via Ottaviano) and, on the northern edge, Cipro. Towards Termini it is six stops from Ottaviano, with a change to line B; towards Battistini you reach Cipro and Cornelia. Ottaviano station is very crowded during Vatican Museums opening hours.

Line A closes in the evening and runs later at weekends: timetables and the status of lifts and escalators are on the ATAC website.

Trams and buses

Tram 19 has its terminus at piazza Risorgimento and crosses viale delle Milizie towards Flaminio, Villa Borghese, the Policlinico, San Lorenzo and the Prenestina. The most used bus lines run along via Crescenzio and via Cola di Rienzo towards piazza Cavour and the centre (piazza Venezia, Termini), along viale Giulio Cesare and via Candia towards Trionfale and San Pietro station, and along the Tiber towards Trastevere and Piramide. At night the ATAC night lines (nMA on the metro A route) stop at Ottaviano and Lepanto.

Trains, airports, on foot and by bike

Roma San Pietro station, south-west of the rione beyond the Vatican walls, is served by lines FL3 and FL5: change at Roma Trastevere or Ostiense for the FL1 to Fiumicino Aeroporto, or take the metro to Termini for the Leonardo Express. For Ciampino: metro A to Termini or Anagnina and then a bus.

On foot: piazza Navona in fifteen minutes from piazza Cavour over ponte Umberto I, piazza del Popolo in fifteen from Lepanto via ponte Regina Margherita, St Peter's in ten from Ottaviano. The rione is flat with wide pavements, suited to bikes and shared e-scooters; a cycle path runs along the lungotevere.
