Metro and trains
Garbatella station on metro B is on the Circonvallazione Ostiense, at the district's northern edge, linked to the lots by stairways and by the bridge over via Ostiense: Piramide is one stop away, Colosseo three, Termini five; in the other direction Basilica San Paolo, Marconi, EUR and Laurentina. Basilica San Paolo station serves the southern part of the district. Both are at surface level or shallow; the status of lifts and escalators is on the ATAC website.
Roma Ostiense railway station, with regional lines FL1 (Orte – Fiumicino Aeroporto), FL3 and FL5, is about a quarter of an hour on foot along via Ostiense or one metro stop away (Piramide). The Metromare terminus for Ostia is at Porta San Paolo, next to Piramide.
Buses, night, car
There are no trams. Buses run along via Ostiense (towards Piramide and the centre one way, San Paolo and Marconi the other), along the Circonvallazione Ostiense towards Piramide and towards the Appia, and along via delle Sette Chiese towards the Colombo and EUR; the inner streets of the lots have no service. At night the nMB night line follows metro B and stops at Garbatella and Basilica San Paolo. By car the Colombo reaches EUR and the ring road in a few minutes, via Ostiense the centre.
Airports, bikes, on foot
For Fiumicino the FL1 train from Roma Ostiense is the direct route; alternatively the metro to Termini for the Leonardo Express. For Ciampino, metro B to Termini and then the buses, or to Laurentina and bus 720. The district is hilly and the stairways between the lots cannot be cycled; via Ostiense has a cycle path towards Piramide and Marconi. Shared bikes and e-scooters are available around the metro and on via Ostiense. On foot: Piramide and Testaccio in fifteen to twenty minutes, the basilica of San Paolo in fifteen, the Roma Tre campus in Ostiense in ten.
