Housing: public-housing ranking updated twice a year, a quota for housing emergencies and rent support

In Viterbo the municipality publishes the provisional scores of public-housing (ERP) applications and rankings updated on 30 June and 31 December. Since 2026 the share of municipal homes reserved for housing emergencies is allocated with a points system. It takes rent-support applications online and publishes the form for the involuntary-arrears fund. Rents and prices are in the data.

Public housing (ERP)

Public housing (edilizia residenziale pubblica, ERP) is meant for households that, for economic reasons, cannot access the private market. On its «Alloggi ERP» page the municipality of Viterbo publishes, several times a year, the provisional scores given to new applications and updates, which flow into the rankings updated on 30 June and 31 December; the rankings already approved are on the same page.

Housing emergencies

The regional regulation allows municipalities to reserve up to 25% of ERP homes for people and families in a severe housing emergency. With a council executive resolution of February 2026 the municipality confirmed its allocation criteria and, for the municipal homes available in 2026, introduced for this quota a points system that considers housing conditions (no fixed abode, imminent eviction, precarious or emergency accommodation), economic situation, health and social vulnerability, being in the care of the municipal social services and position in the ERP ranking.

Rent support

For the rent-support contribution (call for the year 2025, published in January 2026) the application is filled in online and must include, on pain of exclusion, an identity document, a residence permit or card for non-EU citizens and a registered lease in the applicant's name; applicants must be resident in Viterbo in that home (or renting it for work or study) and hold no rights over a suitable home, and properties in cadastral categories A1, A8 and A9 are excluded. The municipality also publishes the form to apply for the regional contribution for involuntary rent arrears (morosità incolpevole).
