Health: ASP Vibo Valentia, the "G. Jazzolino" hospital and the out-of-hours doctor in via Moderata Durant

The city falls under the ASP of Vibo Valentia and its single Health District (via Moderata Durant). The main hospital is the "G. Jazzolino", in piazza Fleming, with an emergency department. Out-of-hours care has two posts in the municipality, at Vibo Valentia and at Vibo Marina.

Who covers the city

The Provincial Health Authority of Vibo Valentia organises local services in a single Health District; for Vibo Valentia the office is in via Moderata Durant (phone 0963.962096, administrative offices 0963.962539). Physiatry (0963 962580) and physiotherapy (0963 962590) clinics are listed at the same address. The public relations office (URP) answers on 0963 962468.

Hospital and emergency department

The "G. Jazzolino" Hospital, in piazza Fleming, is presented as the main hospital of the ASP's territorial area (switchboard 0963 962111; emergency department 0963 962387; ticket office 0963 962509). Among its departments the ASP lists emergency and urgent medicine, general medicine, paediatrics, neonatology, ENT, general surgery and cardiology/ICCU. The other hospitals are Serra San Bruno and Tropea. The single emergency number is 112 and the ASP home page has an "Accessi Pronto Soccorso" (emergency department access) section.

GP

The ASP's "Medici di famiglia e pediatri" page has two lists, one of GPs and one of paediatricians for the Vibo Valentia area. The page does not describe how to choose a GP: ask the district for the procedure.

Out-of-hours doctor

The out-of-hours (continuità assistenziale) service is active across the province from 20:00 to 8:00 on weekdays and, on days before holidays, from 10:00 until 8:00 on the day after the holiday. The posts in the municipality are in via Moderata Durant (0963/962335) and in via Emilia, Vibo Marina (0963/572621). You can phone or go in person for advice, visits, certificates or urgent prescriptions.
