Housing: public housing, support for young tenants, student accommodation

Public housing is managed by ATER Verona, which publishes the municipal calls and rankings. In 2026 the city launched a trial rent contribution for young workers with an agreed-rent (canone concordato) lease. ESU Verona offers student beds, either through a competition or at below-market rates.

Public housing

Public residential housing is managed by ATER Verona, the provincial public housing agency. Its website gathers the municipal calls for the allocation of homes, the provisional and final rankings and those for subsidised housing; the agency also rents and sells properties from its own stock.

The Bando Abitare

With council resolution no. 563 of 5 June 2026 the municipality launched the "Bando Abitare" on a trial basis: a monthly rent contribution, paid every six months for up to twelve consecutive months, for those holding an agreed-rent lease (including transitional leases of at least twelve months) registered from 1 January 2026 for a home in the municipality. Holders or co-holders aged 18 to 35, in work, whose household is already on the Verona population register and whose ISEE is within the call's threshold may apply; free-market leases, public housing, tourist lets and sublets are excluded. The measure is linked to the social housing agency of the Ven_26 Verona area, which also offers incentives to landlords.

Students

ESU Verona has two channels: first-category places are obtained through a competition based on the same income and merit requirements as the regional scholarship, which may cover all or part of the cost; second-category places are open to any student, with no requirements, at below-market prices.
