Asuit, the authority based in Trento

On 1 January 2026 the Azienda sanitaria universitaria integrata del Trentino (Asuit) took over from the provincial health agency (Apss) in all legal relationships. It is an instrumental body of the autonomous Province, based in Trento, created to integrate care, teaching and research in a structured way with the University of Trento, and it runs the hospitals, clinics, districts and home care of the whole province: those living in the capital therefore have both the services and the authority's headquarters in town.

Santa Chiara hospital

The city's hospital is the Santa Chiara, at largo Medaglie d'Oro 9 (switchboard 0461 903111), home to the city's emergency department; the Asuit portal shows the current crowding of the province's emergency departments in real time.

Out-of-hours doctor (continuità assistenziale)

For out-of-hours medical care at night, on Saturdays and on holidays call 116117 (from outside the province, from Primiero and from the border areas with Veneto: 800 016017). The clinic serving Trento, Aldeno, Cimone and Garniga has been located since June 2026 at the Trento sud community health house, building E of the health services centre on viale Verona; access only after calling.

GP and bookings

Choosing and changing your GP is done online with TreC+, the provincial health record (app and portal), which is also used to book visits and blood tests, read reports and pay; the Asuit portal also offers a search of GPs and paediatricians and online bookings.

Opening hours, locations and access rules change: check the Asuit website (asuit.tn.it) or TreC+ before acting.
