Provincial health service
Two separate health systems: APSS in Trentino (TreC+ health record, provincial booking centre) and the South Tyrol Health Authority in Bolzano (four health districts, bilingual services). Both provinces fund health care from their own resources and decide additional exemptions. Highly developed helicopter mountain rescue.

Registration, co-payments, exemptions
Newcomers register with the health service and choose a GP at the district or online (TreC+ in Trentino, the South Tyrol online health services portal with SPID/CIE or the provincial services card). Thanks to the statute, the provinces decide co-payment exemptions and services beyond the national level (for example contributions for dental care or for the care of dependent people): rules must be checked on the provincial portals because they differ between Trento and Bolzano.
Mountains
Mountain rescue is among the best organised in the Alps: in Trentino the Alpine and Cave Rescue (national corps, volunteer-based) with provincial helicopter rescue carries out more than a thousand operations a year; in South Tyrol the Bergrettungsdienst, the CNSAS Alpine Rescue and the Aiut Alpin Dolomites and Pelikan helicopter services operate. Call 112. Recovery of uninjured people and off-piste operations may be charged: specific insurance is recommended.
