Transport: STPS buses into Valtellina, a three-platform RFI station and the provincial pass
STPS, based at via Samaden 35, runs 35 extra-urban lines in the Sondrio and Morbegno-Chiavenna basins (62 Valtellina comuni), from Sondrio towards Morbegno, Chiavenna, Chiesa in Valmalenco, Aprica and Tirano. Extra-urban buses
The Società Trasporti Pubblici di Sondrio (STPS) runs 35 extra-urban lines in the Sondrio and Morbegno-Chiavenna basins, with over 2 million kilometres a year, and reaches 62 Valtellina comuni. Lines departing from Sondrio include Sondrio-Morbegno-Chiavenna, Sondrio-Chiesa in Valmalenco, Sondrio-Aprica, Sondrio-Faedo Alto, Sondrio-Montagna and Tirano-Sondrio. Timetables are available at the stops and on the site; the timetable booklets change with the season. STPS is based at via Samaden 35 (0342 511212, info@stps.it).
Station
Sondrio station has three platforms for passenger trains, a ticket office, waiting rooms, a bar and a tobacconist; platform 1 is reached at grade or by ramp, platforms 2 and 3 by lift, with a tactile route and raised platforms. Outside the station there are a bus stop, covered bike parking, bike sharing, station car sharing and charging points. Assistance for passengers with disabilities goes through the Sala Blu in Milan and must be requested up to 12 hours before.
Provincial pass and municipal services
For travel within the province the Region offers the «Io viaggio ovunque in provincia» pass, for local public transport in the province of Sondrio; the page consulted does not describe its conditions, so zones and validity should be checked on the Lombardy Region's site. Among the Comune's mobility services are ZTL access, taxi service, NCC (chauffeur hire) and the disabled parking badge.
