The university
The University of Molise (UniMol), state-run, was established in 1982: the headquarters and main campus are in Campobasso, in the Vazzieri district (campus with economics, law, humanities and social sciences, library, residences and canteen), with medicine and surgery at the Cardarelli hospital in Tappino; the Department of Biosciences and Territory has sites in Pesche (Isernia) and Termoli. It is a small university, with limited-size courses and direct contact with lecturers; it draws students from Molise, northern Apulia, inland Campania and southern Abruzzo. The city also has the Lorenzo Perosi Conservatory.
Student support
ESU Molise (the agency for the right to university study) provides grants, beds in Campobasso's residences and canteen service through an annual call by ISEE and merit, also open to international students. UniMol fees follow the national ISEE bands with exemptions for low incomes and benefits for students from outside the region.
Where students live
Vazzieri is the university district, with the ESU residences, shared flats and services; the Murat centre is the alternative for those who want to walk between university, corso and bars. Room prices are among the lowest in Italy. Many students commute from the province's towns and from Isernia, by bus and regional train.
Programmes in English
UniMol offers some master's programmes and courses in English, particularly in economics and sciences; the updated list is on the Universitaly portal. The university takes part in Erasmus programmes and international agreements, particularly with communities of Molise origin abroad.
