Parco delle Colline
Since 2002 the Parco delle Colline (Hills Park) has protected a natural landscape that covers more than 2,100 hectares in the Comune di Brescia alone: most of the Maddalena hill, the Cidneo hill, the San Giuseppe and Sant'Anna hills and the Mompiano valley. The park's coordination office restored the old trails climbing from the city towards the Ronchi and the Maddalena; in June 2004 it opened an educational trail in the Bosco della Badia designed to be usable by blind people too.
- Brescia Castle: on the Cidneo hill, with large gardens, towers and woodland paths.
- Monte Maddalena: chestnut, hazel and conifer woods and several trails to the summit.
- Parco Ducos: near the centre, with level paths, small lakes and children's play areas.
- Parco delle Cave: a former quarry area turned into a park, with more than 15 km of cycling and walking paths and canoeing and kayaking.
- AmbienteParco, in the Parco dell'Acqua near the city walls: a science-education centre with pavilions, a freely accessible green area and a natural pond with an underwater tunnel.
