Who covers the city

The Azienda USL di Bologna serves 45 municipalities and over 880,000 residents, with more than 9,500 professionals; the city itself forms the Città di Bologna district. The neighbourhoods have Case della Comunità (including Navile, Porto-Saragozza and Pilastro, at via Pirandello 8), the first point of access for clinics and local services.

Hospitals and emergency rooms

In the city the regional service guide lists the AUSL's Ospedale Maggiore (largo Bartolo Nigrisoli 2) and Ospedale Bellaria, the University Hospital's Sant'Orsola-Malpighi Polyclinic (an IRCCS, via Massarenti 9) and the Rizzoli Orthopaedic Institute. At Sant'Orsola the general emergency room is at via Albertoni 10 (open 24/7), with a paediatric emergency room at via Massarenti 11 and an obstetric-gynaecological one at via Massarenti 13, both always open, plus a daytime eye emergency service at via Palagi 9.

CAU: low-complexity urgent care

For urgent but non-serious problems, the city's Assistance and Urgency Centre (CAU) is at the Navile Casa della Comunità, via Cardinale Domenico Svampa 8, open every day 8–22 with direct access; other AUSL CAUs are in San Lazzaro di Savena, Casalecchio di Reno, Budrio and Vergato.
