Textiles and the UNESCO recognition
In a municipal statement the councillor in charge explains that UNESCO recognised Biella as a "Creative City" because the city knows how to produce its fabrics in a creative, technological and sustainable way. The municipality runs the project with a delegated councillor and an appointed Focal Point, and prepares a four-yearly report to UNESCO on the work done since 2019. The ATL tourism site cites among the area's features the quality of its fine wools and its industrial archaeology.
Ten neighbourhoods
The municipality lists ten neighbourhood councils: Centro; Chiavazza; Oremo - Barazzetto - Vandorno; Pavignano - Vaglio Colma; Piazzo; Riva; San Paolo - Masarone - Villaggio Sportivo; Valle Oropa; Vernato Thes; Villaggio Lamarmora. The dedicated page publishes the results of the votes and the councils' meeting notices.
The Piazzo
The Piazzo is both a neighbourhood with its own council and, for the ATL, the historic borgo that the tourism site presents together with the city and its history.
