Health: ASL Benevento, the Benevento district, out-of-hours doctors and 118

The city falls under ASL Benevento, which has five districts including Benevento. The GP and paediatrician are chosen at the district registry office or online (Portale Salute del Cittadino, "Campania in Salute" app). Two out-of-hours doctor sites serve the district; the 118 control centre is at via Delcogliano 1.

Who covers the city

ASL Benevento organises local care in five health districts: Benevento, San Giorgio del Sannio, Montesarchio, Telese Terme and Alto Sannio Fortore. For residents of Benevento the reference is the Benevento District, where the ASL lists its own registry office for choosing a doctor.

Family doctor

To choose or change a GP or paediatrician you need the original ID card of the household representative and the health card of each member; for a paediatrician, the child's health card. People arriving from another Region also bring the deregistration document from their previous ASL; non-residents choosing a doctor in the Benevento district present the doctor's certificate of availability. Choosing and changing are also possible online on the Portale Salute del Cittadino or with the "Campania in Salute" app.

Out-of-hours doctor

The out-of-hours service (continuità assistenziale, formerly the guardia medica) runs at night (20:00-08:00), on holidays by day (08:00-20:00) and on pre-holidays by day (10:00-20:00); it offers surgery and home visits, prescriptions, teleconsultation and sick notes of up to three days. In the Benevento District the sites listed by the ASL are in via Maielli/Beltiglio and in via Minghetti.

Bookings and emergencies

The ASL's central booking office (CUP) publishes a list of phone numbers active Monday to Friday from 12:00 to 13:30; the ASL home page also links to the regional CUP. The 118 operations centre is at via Raffaele Delcogliano 1 in Benevento, active 24 hours.
