Where and in which language

The University of Trento is consistently among the top Italian public universities in national rankings and offers many English-taught master's degrees, with a favourable staff-student ratio and a student-sized city. In its trilingual bachelor's programmes unibz requires all three teaching languages by the end of studies (two at C1 and the third at B2), while for master's degrees requirements vary by programme; language courses are included; fees are higher than the public average but provincial grants are generous. Housing is expensive in both cities, especially Bolzano.

Grants and halls

Student support is provincial. In Trento the Opera Universitaria, a body of the Autonomous Province, manages grants, halls (San Bartolameo, Mayer and others), canteens and rent contributions, with an annual call based on the university ISEE. In South Tyrol scholarships (Studienbeihilfen) are paid directly by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, with its own criteria that also cover students outside the province or abroad; halls and canteens are run by partner provincial bodies.
