Two districts drawn on the city wards
ASUGI (the Giuliano Isontina university health authority), based at via Costantino Costantinides 2, covers the city with two districts drawn on the municipal wards: District Trieste 1 follows Roiano-Barcola-Scorcola, San Vito-Città Vecchia, Barriera-San Giacomo and Chiadino-Rozzol-San Giovanni; District Trieste 2 covers the East and West Karst plateau and Valmaura-Chiarbola-Servola-Borgo San Sergio, plus the surrounding municipalities from Muggia to Duino Aurisina. The districts also work by “micro-areas”, with outposts in the neighbourhoods.
Cattinara and Maggiore
ASUGI's two city hospitals are Cattinara (Strada di Fiume 447, on the rise above the city, with the cardiology hub at via Pietro Valdoni 7), home to the emergency department and emergency medicine, and the Maggiore Hospital in the centre (piazza dell'Ospitale 1). The crowding of the region's emergency departments can be checked online on the FVG health service.
