The picture in 2025
The 16th Report of the provincial labour-market Observatory, presented on 18 May 2026 at the Como-Lecco Chamber of Commerce, covers 2025 data. The provincial unemployment rate is 2.6% (3.0% in Lombardy), but the summary attributes this to falling participation rather than to an expansion: the activity rate is the lowest in twenty years and the lowest among Lombard provinces.
Sectors
Industry is losing weight: in two years its share of employment has fallen from 37.6% to 30.2%, while services reach 46%. Metalworking remains central, however: in the hiring planned in the Excelsior survey, industry weighs 33.7% (17.9% in Lombardy), with metallurgy at 13.2% and mechanical industries at 5.2%. More than half of planned hires are hard to fill, and foreign workers are 23.6% of planned entries (29.2% in Lombardy).
Employment centre
The Lecco employment centre is at corso Matteotti 3, first floor (0341 295448 / 0341 295586).
